Atlantic Eye Center Optical
Atlantic Eye Center Optical is a full service optical dispensary in Cape May Court House, NJ. The optical department is staffed with a New Jersey licensed optician to serve you. With in house grinding equipment, many orders are completed on the premises and can be done the same day. There are three experienced stylists to help you make the smartest selection to flatter your face and fit your lifestyle needs.

Whether selecting designer frames or budget frames, Atlantic Eye Center Optical has over two thousand frames from which to choose. There are several lines of children’s frames and sport goggles and ANSI STANDARD safety glasses to fulfill your family’s eyeglass needs. We use brand name progressive no-line bifocal lenses (e.g. digital lenses). We can order specialty  lenses (e.g. for color blindness) and we can order blue light protective lenses. The optical department strives to make your eyeglass experience a pleasant one.

What is a Refraction?

A refraction is part of the eye exam that tells the doctor what eyeglass prescription will help you see better. A new eyeglass prescription is one by-product of a refraction. The refraction is a critical part of any eye examination. It also helps us determine whether one’s vision is reduced by an eye disease (cataracts, macular degeneration, etc.) or some other problem. It helps us to follow the progression of cataracts and many other processes.

The refraction is what helps us to better diagnose and manage the patient’s condition, it’s not just for an eyeglass prescription. However, it is the part of the eye exam that Medicare does not cover and if you have Medicare, you will be asked to pay the refraction fee.
